Saint Vincent's Receives Grant From Sisters of Mercy

The Northeast Mercy Ministry Fund Council of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas has donated $10,000 to Saint Vincent’s to support its Life Skills program.  The Life Skills program staff provide youth who transition to independent living and young adulthood with opportunities to learn the necessary skills to live independently, complete their education or GED, or engage in specific school-to-work experiences.  The youth participate in assessment and training in job-related skills, receive job and career development coaching, and establish meaningful, sustained connections with supportive adults.  Funds will be used to provide the youth with vocational stipends, transportation to and from job locations, and supplies necessary for them to complete their work assignments.

Rachele Foley, Saint Vincent’s Life Skills Services Coordinator commented, “We are so grateful to the Northeast Mercy Ministry Fund Council because they not only provide us with needed financial resources for important programs like Life Skills, but they also support us through their ministry efforts by working directly with the children and youth of Saint Vincent’s.”  Presently there are three Sisters of Mercy ministering at Saint Vincent’s.  The support of the Northeast Mercy Ministry Fund Council will help approximately thirty youth receive vocational training and school-to-work opportunities.
